Catherine Bennett has been painting watercolors professionally since 1986. She has held the position of Visual Arts Department Chair for the Metropolitan School for the Arts and has created and taught an art curriculum for Syracuse University and OCM BOCES. Catherine has written art reviews for the Herald Journal. She's been asked to present workshops for the Universal Education Foundation, the Bradford Group, and Art Haven. She has served as a juror for the New York State Art Competition of the American Legion and substitute teaches art for the Syracuse City School District.
Catherine is an associate member of both the American and the National Watercolor Societies, owner of Art and Soul Watercolors (a national art educational program) , Executive Director of Artwork Ten, (the retail entity of her artworks) and a signature member of the Central New York Watercolor Society. Bennett has shown in Agora Gallery in SoHo, NYC, and she's been published by Courage Card Co. of Minneapolis. She is listed in Who's Who of American Artists, Who's Who of American Women, and the 2008 Edition of Who's Who in America. Her artwork has been exhibited at the Munson William Proctor Art Institute and the Everson Museum and is collected internationally from Burma, India to Pescara, Italy. Catherine's won numerous Best of Show awards in juried shows like the New York State Fair, Syracuse Arts and Craft Show, WCNY Art Invitational and the National Association of American Pen Women.

Her paintings exhibit a unique and masterly style. Some of Catherine's most provocative work synthesizes portraiture with nature to create extremely interesting, camouflaged subjects. Her paintings depict emotional experiences or memories that cross every ethnic barrier and unite us all in similarity. Strong light, bold values, and a sense of timeless mystery fill her work. Delicate subtleties in hue, glazed in transparent washes, with layers of poured paint describe her techniques. She is inspired to capture nature's perfection and interfuse it with the never ending, ever powerful human spirit.
